Responsible Gaming

Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw offer a wide variety of casino gaming excitement. We are strongly committed to providing information and access to resources so our guests have an enjoyable, informed experience. Our Responsible Gaming Information Centre sets the standard for responsible gambling by providing our guests with information to help them keep gambling fun.

What is the Responsible Gaming Information Centre?

The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation is committed to promoting responsible gaming in our casinos. The Responsible Gaming Information Centre (RGIC), the second centre of its kind in Canada, provides information, access to community resources, and referrals for those who seek help.

The RGIC is located on the gaming floor at Casino Regina. Its aim is to educate guests and staff about responsible play, and develop a customer base of social and recreational gamblers. The RGIC’s primary focus is on education and prevention; it takes a positive approach to provide the players with information they require to make informed decisions and fully enjoy their casino experience. It’s part of SGC’s strategy to contribute to the community in a socially responsible way.

The RGIC is staffed by a Responsible Gaming Resource Person, who provides information to

about gaming, such as how gambling works, randomness, house advantage, and the costs of different types of gambling.

Anyone can use the RGIC to learn more about gaming. There are resource materials available on a variety of topics; guests can learn how slot machines work, read industry magazines, and gather information on other entertainment options in the casino, and in the community.

The RGIC does not replace problem gambling counseling, although visitors who are concerned about their level of play or that of a loved one are referred to health care professionals when necessary. Its purpose is to take a proactive approach, so players can recognize the early warning signs and take action before a problem develops.

Why would a casino have a Responsible Gaming Information Centre?

Gambling operators across Canada and around the world have a responsibility to their customers. In addition to SGC’s RGIC (the second in Canada), there are now eight responsible gaming centres in casinos across the country.

What else is being done to promote responsible gambling?

Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw have a number of initiatives in place. The Voluntary Ban program allows guests to ban themselves from our casinos; these guests are not permitted to enter the casino until their ban is removed.

As well, the “Bet on a Balance” advertising campaign, which promotes a healthy approach to gaming, appears throughout the casino on slot machines, Show Lounge tickets and ATM receipts.
